E-Eye’s single track “Do a Little Dance” is a feel good music that you will surely like if you enjoy listening to eminent pop singers like Justin Timberlake. In case if you are wondering why am I comparing E-Eye’s “Do a Little Dance” with Justin Timberlake…have you listened to “Carry Out” by the latter? But it is my take on the music since my age and time belongs to this era. And my opinion would be different from yours and certainly from the artist himself.

So straight from the horse’s mouth, “Do a Little Dance” is actually inspired by KC and the Sunshine Band—an American disco and funk band that was founded in the year 1973 in Hialeah, Florida and is popular for their hit songs like “That’s My Way”, “Shake Your Booty”, “Keep It Comin’ Love”.

It was the band’s “Get Down Tonight” based on which “Do a Little Dance” was inspired. In fact, the name of single “Do a Little Dance” has actually been taken from one the lyrics in the song “Get Down Tonight”.

It is now clear to us about the origin of inspiration and hence the genre to which the song belongs. Naturally “Do a Little Dance” is a feel good song that is light hearted and can lighten up your mood even on bad days.

It is all about dancing after all as the artist grooves to his own lyrics:

“Do a little dance

Shake it all around

Do a little dance

Work that body baby

Do a little dance

Shake it all around

Do a little dance

Work that body baby…”

A little careful comparison reveals the tremendous influence of KC and the Sunshine band even on the lyrics. In addition to the lyrics, the use of graphical animations in the video is worth talking about. I like how these graphical animations has been used alongside the performance of the artists in the real world. Nevertheless, would have been better had the usage of the animation been kept to a minimalistic level.

On another note, maybe the purpose behind this graphical animation was actually intentional. We cannot help but refer to one of the artist’s interview where E-Eye himself had accepted how he loves his music to have a “a little bit of 90’s flavor” smoothly mixed with the modern sound.

To conclude, isn’t it lovely how tradition can repeat itself in different form. E-Eye’s single might have the flavor of today but it actually wouldn’t have been possible had it not been KC and the Sunshine Band’s inspiration.
