The new album “Love” by Radio Free Universe encompasses a genre-inclusive approach where you get to hear rock, funk, alternative, and pop – all at once.

The album contains a list of eight songs beginning with “Love Right Now” – that talks about the passing of time, the dreams and aspirations for which humans are in pursuit, and even talks about the contradictory paths that one crosses. Listening to this single track reminds me of the style similar to Maroon 5 and Adam Lambert. Nevertheless, Radio Free Universe has a personality of their own, which is evident not just in their lyrics but also in the music itself. It has a radio wave frequency that fluctuates from high to low phases – from intense to slow to soft. Ethereal guitar and a steady beat give way to falsetto-punctuated verses from Panagopoulos. Listen to the song to understand what I mean.

The next two songs “Star Child” and “Circle” follow a passive tone and ideal for pondering and pruning. Do not miss out the rich tonal waves in the voice.

“She’s High Again” reminds me of Nickelback’s “I want to be a rockstar” again. Though the theme here are different and so is the style. But what had struck me with the idea of similarity is that the music takes a narrative style to give the audience an idea of the setup of the environment and the character. Here it is about a lover knows what his beloved is going to be without his presence – an indication that love is what brings in the balance between two souls and without which all that will be left in the universe is imbalance. The musical development here is extremely praiseworthy and worth taking note of. A treat to listen to.

Do not miss out the “Even Angels” track with the most intoxicating lines “Even angels fall from the sky”. As per my interpretation goes, this is the song of a love once broken and is bound to rewind to be reformed once more. Because sitbacks sometimes can happen.

The album also has three more songs “Divided We Fall”, “All Or Nothing Time”, “Sleep Will Come” – all of which taking different perspectives when talking about the theme love.

Overall, the album’s take on the all-inclusive genre and the universal theme and language “love” makes the production worth listening to.
