At the height of the 2020 global pandemic and social unrest, while millions of people are risking their health and safety by waiting in long lines to cast their vote, The Johnson Party is delivering a simple yet powerful message by way of their new song and video “Can’t let the Bastards Win” out digitally and on all streaming platforms.

The music opens with eye-catching visuals and the strumming of the guitar, slowly making way for the vocals. This will remind you the times when Bob Dylan or the revolutionary musicians were making their voices sound in the society. Let me point it out, the music does not have the softness in it but a tone that is strongly audible – an apt song for the message that is being conveyed.

“We wrote this song because we believe in the underdog, in the possibility of a better future, and that it’s not over till it’s over. It is not inevitable that we destroy the planet. It is not inevitable that the bad guys win. We believe in love over money. We believe that getting outside into the wonders of nature is a path to understanding the things that are more important than materialism, things such as community, fresh air, dancing, music, family, and good friends. While we believe and celebrate honored traditions, festive customs, and honored culture in general, we believe there is always a potential for a better way forward than going back. It is not inevitable that the bastards win.” – explains Erik Johnson, the band’s vocalist, guitarist, percussionist, and harmonica.

“You and me… we are the remedy. We refuse to accept the inevitability of the society that is selling me, cause you want to make more money. Yeah, yeah, yeah…”, the singer hums the chorus from the background as I listen to the song while writing this.

About the style – the artistic connection and collective love for nature has been brightly fused with musical genres of rock, reggae, Americana, and soul, while at the same time advocating for a vibrant outdoor lifestyle and a deep respect for nature and the environment.

The song is already out on some of the major musical platforms such as Spotify and YouTube. Click on the links below to listen or watch.
